Former Planning Minister MA Mannan was apprehended by police at his residence in Shatiganj upazila, Sunamganj, yesterday evening. AFM Anwar Hossain, the superintendent of police in Sunamganj, stated, "He [MA Mannan] is a suspect in a case lodged with a court. After learning of his presence at his village home, the police carried out an operation and detained him."
He added, "We will present him before a Sunamganj court in the morning, following the legal procedures," while speaking to the press.
On September 2, a man named Hafiz Uddin filed a case at the Sunamganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Court regarding the confrontation between demonstrators, police, and Awami League members on August 4, according to our Sylhet correspondent. MA Mannan, along with 98 other Awami League leaders and police officers, has been implicated in the case.
